This Friday marks the beginning of the third day of the Pan American Games, with the highlight being the opening ceremony of Santiago 2023, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Estadio Nacional coliseum. However, it won't be the only activity of the day, as other competitions will take place in the hours leading up to it.

Friday October 20 activities in Santiago 2023: baseball, boxing and diving
In fact, two of the biggest stars of Santiago 2023 and strong contenders for gold in their respective disciplines will be in action on Friday: Mexican diver Alejandra Orozco and Cuban boxer Julio César La Cruz.
Nevertheless, the first event of the day is the final game of the first round of men's baseball between Cuba and Colombia, which will be played at 9:30 a.m. on the Parque Cerrillos diamond.
Starting at 11:00 am at the Centro Acuático of Estadio Nacional, the qualifying stage for the female's 10-meter platform diving will begin, where Orozco will start her quest for the gold medal.
Despite her impressive track record, which includes silver medals in the Olympic Games London 2012 and a bronze in Tokyo 2020, the Mexican has never been able to reach the top of the podium at the Pan American Games, something she acknowledges as a pending achievement.

"La sombra" debuts against Jamar Talley
It's a different story for the Cuban boxer, known as "La Sombra", who is a two-time world and Olympic champion and a three-time Pan American champion. His debut in Santiago, in the 92-kilogram category, will be against American boxer Jamar Talley at 12:15 p.m.
The boxing day, at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico in the Ñuñoa commune, will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will include round of sixteen bouts between female boxers in the 75-kilogram category and male boxers in the 92-kilogram category. The La Cruz vs. Talley fight will be the fifth of the day and the first for the men.
Regarding the Santiago 2023 opening ceremony, it will feature the participation of renowned national artists such as Los Jaivas, Los Tres, Los Bunkers, Ana Tijoux, and Movimiento Original. The Colombian urban singer Sebastián Yatra will also be present.
